History and origin of the name

The street appeared at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. For the first time it is shown on the plan of the city of Bryansk in 1906 , where it is designated as "2nd line of the Railway Station Sloboda " .

In 1915 , in connection with the First World War , at the end of this street the construction of military departments warehouses (the so-called “Minsk” warehouses) was carried out, in connection with which the street was paved and landscaped. According to the memoirs of old-timers, these works were carried out by a platoon of soldiers under the command of Corporal Nikitinsky - from here came the name that became official. Under this name, the street was known in tsarist times, and during the Soviet era, and during the years of fascist occupation.

In the mid -1980s , in preparation for the 1000th anniversary of Bryansk, new electrified sold-outs were made for the street, on which the distorted "simplified" name first appeared - Nikitina Street . According to one version, unknown authors of this renaming suggested that the street was named after the poet I. S. Nikitin (many streets of the Volodarsky district really bear the names of writers). However, the replacement of the former name with a new one is not confirmed by any acts of local authorities, and both names coexist to date. If “Nikitinskaya” still prevails in colloquial speech, then in official documents the name “Nikitina street” is gradually imposed.

Interesting fact.

The poet I. S. Nikitin lived and died in Voronezh . The street named after him in this city is called Nikitinskaya .

Overpass

In 1955, instead of a nearby railway crossing , an overpass was built in the alignment of Nikitinskaya Street leading to the railway station Bryansk-I and the Soviet district of Bryansk; this allowed in 1967 to open a trolleybus service in the Volodarsky district. The overpass had one lane in each direction. In the 1980s, it became necessary to expand it, and it was decided to build a new two-lane overpass next to the existing one, and then replace the old overpass, the technical condition of which was critical, with another new one. In 1998, the first phase of the new overpass was put into operation, and the old one was closed for transport and adapted for pedestrian traffic, as well as a parking lot on the north-eastern slope. The construction of the second phase was scheduled to begin in 2010, however, this did not happen. As of November 2012, the old overpass is still in critical condition. The only evidence of future work on his demolition is the abolition of the aforementioned parking lot in the summer of 2011. In December 2013, dismantling began on June 1, 2015. The construction of the second stage began. May 7, 2016 the second phase is open. 1st stage opened after reconstruction.
