Oleg Aleksandrovich Yuriev ( July 28, 1959 , Leningrad - July 5, 2018 [2] , Frankfurt ) is a Russian writer, poet and playwright , translator , and literary critic .

Biography
Father, candidate of art criticism Alexander Yulievich Yuryev (1933-1994), was a teacher of violin mastery at the conservatory [3] , mother - Isabella Natanovna Yuryeva (born 1934) - English in high school. Parents were divorced, raised by their mother. He graduated from the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute . He attended the translation workshop of Elga Lvovna Lineckaya , translated from English and Spanish. One of the founders of the literary group Luggage Storage , curator of the website of the same name on the Internet. He wrote poetry from the 1970s, prose from the beginning of the 1980s, plays from 1984. The first publication in the open press was in 1982 . He was published in the magazines Twilight , Bulletin of New Literature , Volga , Theater , Ural , Star , Banner , October , New Coast , Critical Mass , New Literary Review ”, “ Air ” ,“ Homo Legens ”and others. From 1990 to 1994, he systematically collaborated with Radio Liberty , was one of the leading authors of the literary program“ Over the Barriers ”.
Since 1991, he lived with his wife and son in Germany ( Frankfurt ). The works of O. A. Yuryev were translated into German (seven books of prose, numerous publications in periodicals and theatrical productions), French, English, Czech and other languages; his plays were staged in Germany, Switzerland, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Canada, etc. countries - both in the languages of these countries and local Russian troupes.
He taught (a course on the history of Russian poetry of the 20th century) at the University of Illinois in Urban and Champaign , USA ( 2009 ).

Recognition
In 2010 , he was awarded the Hilda Domin Prize : according to the jury, Yuryev’s works “combine Gogol’s grotesque humor with the courage of the St. Petersburg avant-garde” [7] .
Novella by O. A. Yuryev “An unknown letter from the writer L. Dobychin to Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky” was awarded the Prize of the Zvezda magazine for the best publications of 2012 . Published in the journal Zvezda (St. Petersburg), No. 7, 2012.
