Geographical position
According to the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 144.13 km² (land - 95.73 km², water surface - 48.41 km²). Superior is located on the border of Wisconsin with the state of Minnesota opposite the city of Duluth on Lake Superior . It is surrounded by three bays and two rivers: the bays of St. Louis, Superior, Alluje and the rivers St. Louis and Nemaggi. Together with Duluth, the city is part of the Twin Ports metropolitan area.

History
The first hut on the territory of the future city was built in September 1853 on the banks of the Nemidji River. The city of Superior was founded on November 6, 1854, and incorporated on March 25, 1889.

According to the 2010 census, the population of Superior was 27,244 people (of which 49.0% were men and 51.0% were women), the city had 11 670 households and 4341 families. On the territory of the city there were 12,328 buildings with an average density of 128.8 buildings per square kilometer of land. Racial composition : white - 91.5%, African Americans - 1.4, Asians - 1.2%, Native Americans - 2.6% [1] .
The population of the city by age range according to the 2010 census was as follows: 21.3% - residents under 18 years old, 5.6% - between 18 and 21 years old, 59.6% - from 21 to 65 years old and 13.5% - at the age of 65 years and older. The average age of the population is 35.4 years. For every 100 females in Superior, there are 96.2 males, while for 100 adult females there are already 94.2 males of comparable age [1] .
Of the 11 670 households, 56.1% were families: 37.2% of couples living together (14.1% with children under 18 years of age); 13.5% are women living without husbands and 5.4% are men living without wives. 43.9% did not have a family. On average, 2.23 people lead a household, and the average family size is 2.84 people. 34.6% of the population lived alone, 12.0% were lonely elderly people (over 65) [1] .
Economics
In 2014, out of 21,777 people over 16 had 13,198 jobs. At the same time, men had a median income of $ 44,082 a year, compared to $ 33,757 of the average annual income for women. In 2014, the median income for a family was estimated at $ 53,878, for a household - at $ 40,198. The per capita income is $ 23,272 per year [1] .
