Geography
The Edward VII Peninsula is the extreme northwestern tip of Mary Baird’s Earth and is sometimes considered not as an independent Earth, but as part of Mary Baird’s Earth.
It stands out in the Ross Sea between the Sulzberger Bay and the northeast corner of the Ross Ice Shelf . The Edward VII Peninsula is defined by the Ross Ice Shelf in the southwest, Okuma Bay in the west, and Sulzberger Bay and the Saunders shore in the east; all of them are mainly located in the Ross Sea and the Southern Ocean in the Antarctic .
The west coast of the peninsula is the shore of Shiraz . In the north and east of the peninsula is the Swinburne Ice Shelf .
History
The Edward VII Peninsula was discovered on January 30, 1902 by the British National Antarctic Expedition ( BrNAE , 1901-1904), led by Robert Falcon Scott , who named it King Edward VII Land in honor of the British King Edward VII . The peninsular nature of Edward VII Land was established during exploration work by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1933–1935) and the US Antarctic Expedition ( USAS , 1939–1941).
