Sergey Nikolaevich Skadovsky ( August 31 [ September 12 ], 1886 , Belozerka market town, Kherson district , Kherson province - February 5, 1962 , Moscow ) - Russian and Soviet hydrobiologist , Doctor of Biological Sciences , head of the Department of Hydrobiology of Moscow State University (1930), professor (1935 ), creator of the ecological and physiological direction in hydrobiology, laureate of the prize named after V. I. Lenin (1929) [2] .

Biography
In 1912 he graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Department of Moscow University .
In 1910, at his own expense, he founded the Zvenigorod Hydrophysiological Station (now the biostation of the Moscow State University named after S. N. Skadovsky). The main scientific direction of Skadovsky’s work is ecology and physiology of aquatic organisms.
He was buried in a cemetery near the village of Lutsino .

Origin and family
A descendant of the old Polish noble family Skodovsky . Great-grandfather - Skodovsky Baltazar Baltazarovich (1745-1825), lieutenant colonel of the Polish army under King Stanislav Augustus Ponyatovsky . After the partition of Poland, he swore allegiance to Paul I and received the Russian nobility. Grandfather - Skodovsky Lev Baltazarovich (1814-1886), landowner and large landowner, as well as the father of the future scientist - artist Skadovsky Nikolai Lvovich (1845-1892), were born and died in the family estate Belozerka (Skadovka) . Mother - Arkudinskaya Maria Sergeevna 1860-1940). Wife - Skadovskaya Lyudmila Nikolaevna, nee Speranskaya (1889-1972) [3] .
