Women's hammer throwing competitions at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics were held on August 18 (qualification) and August 20 (final) at the Beijing National Stadium .

On November 25, 2016, 8 years after the completion of the competition by the IOC decision, due to a positive doping test, the Belarusian athlete Oksana Menkova was deprived of the Olympic gold medal [1] . In 2017, the Belarusian Daria Pchelnik was also disqualified, taking fourth place. As a result of the redistribution of awards, gold should go to the Ipsi Moreno Cuban, silver to Chinese Zhang Wenxiu , and bronze to French Manuel Montebren.

Also, the NOC could declare no more than one athlete from among those who fulfilled the B standard (67.00 m) in the same period. Qualification standards were established by the IAAF . [2]
