Laid down at Federal Shipbuilding , Kearney , NJ on March 1, 1939 . Serial number: 160. Launched on March 9, 1940 , entered service on July 17, 1940 . Put in reserve on May 3, 1946 .
February 16, 1959 transferred to Taiwan, where February 16, 1959 was commissioned under the name DD-17 "Nan Yang." Expelled March 1, 1974, returned to the United States March 1, 1974.
It was expelled from the US Navy on November 1, 1974, and in 1975 it was disassembled and scrapped.
