Arthaud turned out to be almost the only author of the album, writing lyrics, music, producing, mixing and recording a disc with his own hand (only guitar parts were recorded at another studio by Niels Herbig ) [1] .

About the album

Lutherion I was the first in the trilogy and marked the final transition of Garden Of Delight to gothic metal with an electronic bias [2] . The songs included in the album are probably the most aggressive and heavy in sound [3] [4] of all the group’s works.

The name of the album and the entire trilogy is formed by the addition of the words “ Martin Luther ” and “Therion” ( Greek “monster”, “beast”, a euphemism for the designation of the Antichrist ) [3] . The texts are saturated with occult motives, in particular, references to Satanism [3] and devil worship [5] ; at the same time, there are elements of philosophical lyrics.

The song Black Mass uses a sample that reproduces the speech of the head of devil worshipers during the performance of the "Black Mass" from Roman Polanski 's film "The Ninth Gate ".

The album became Garden Of Delight 's most commercially successful product [3] and received many accolades [2] [5] .
