Laid down at the Bath Iron Works , Bath Me shipyard on March 6, 1939 . Serial number: 180. Launched on August 3, 1940 , entered service on October 7, 1940 . It was withdrawn to the reserve on January 24, 1947 . Expelled from the U.S. Navy on July 19, 1956 . From 1956 to 1958 it was used for experimental purposes and disassembly for spare parts. Sold March 3, 1961 to Potomac Shipwrecking Co., New Orleans, and dismantled in August 1961.
