Content
Tasks
The main tasks of military traffic inspections are:
- ensuring road safety in the Armed Forces;
- monitoring compliance by the military personnel and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces with legislative and other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation regarding road safety in military units when operating vehicles of military units on public roads;
- ensuring the movement of troops (forces) along public roads and column roads, the organization of a road patrol service of military traffic inspections on the routes of vehicles of military units;
- registration of vehicles of military units;
- technical inspection of vehicles of military units, as well as ensuring the admission of drivers and vehicles of military units to participate in traffic.

History
The first mention of the military automobile inspection in the Red Army is found in the order for the Main Directorate of the Automobile and Road Service No. 0101 of August 26, 1942 . It provided for "... to reorganize the Main Directorate of the Road Service ..., the departments : military roads , road commandant services and the inspection department to merge into one department of the military traffic inspectorate and military roads. To appoint a military engineer 2 ranks I. E Rumyantsev as a military traffic inspector. ”By order of the Head of the Main Automobile Directorate of the Red Army No. 130 dated August 31, 1945 , it was stipulated“ ... to organize non-military military automobile inspections to help the heads of the garrison automobile service ”.
The Directive of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation dated September 12, 2005 “On organizational measures carried out in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” provided for the formation by March 1, 2006 of 9 regional and 87 territorial military administrations subordinate to the military aviation institute of the Russian Ministry of Defense and members of the State Academic Technical University of the Russian Ministry of Defense. On December 1, 2011, the Military Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense of Russia became part of the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
In 2018, three overseas units of the IAI were created in Armenia , Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan [2] .
The head of the Military Automobile Inspection of the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is Colonel Sergey Postnikov [3] .
