Location
The islands are located in the eastern part of the archipelago near the eastern coast of the island of Land of Vilcek just north of the Gulf of Elena Gould .
Description
The Gorbunov Islands are free of ice, their entire territory is covered with sand, in the western part of the northern island there is a low, only 8 meters high, outlier rock. The northern island has an elongated shape with a length of about 700 meters, the southern one has a rounded shape with a diameter of about 500 meters.
The islands are named after Grigory Gorbunov — Soviet hydrobiologist and zoologist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences [1] . They do not have separate names.
