Vietnam ( Republic of Vietnam ) took part in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich ( Germany ) for the sixth time in its history, but did not win a single medal.

Shooter Ho Min Thu , who took part in the 1968 Games, became the team’s standard bearer.
The 1972 Games were the last for the Republic of Vietnam - athletes representing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam participated in the 1980 Summer Olympics .

Athletes and Their Results
Shooting
Both representatives of the Republic of Vietnam competed in shooting from an arbitrary pistol at a distance of 50 meters. Ho Min Thu took the final 49th place, gaining 524 points (80 in the 1st round, 89 in the 2nd, 93 in the 3rd, 86 in the 4th, 83 in the 5th and 93 - in 6th) with 567 from the winner of the competition - the Swede Ragnar Scanoker [1] . This result was worse than in previous Games when Ho Min Thu scored 533 points [2] .
Huong Hoang Thi scored 487 points (80 in the 1st round, 77 in the 2nd, 80 in the 3rd, 85 in the 4th, 84 in the 5th, 81 in the 6th) and took 56th place [1] .
