After the revolution of 1917, he was homeless , was sent to the children's colony "SKID" ( Dostoevsky Community School ), where he earned the nickname "Yankel." There he made friends with Alexei Yeremeyev (later - writer L. Panteleev) .

At the end of 1935, Belykh was repressed on charges of counter-revolutionary activity (Article 58 paragraph 10 of the RSFSR Criminal Code of 1926). According to various sources, it consisted of writing the poem “Two Greats” (about I. V. Stalin and Peter I ), which contained the following lines:
“... Surrender, surrender, Joseph the First.
My channel idea
You, not sparing the strength of others
Very brilliantly finished.
Well I was rich in ideas
But he was not so rich in slaves, "
whether in writing a poem about JV Stalin, on the same topic and in the same spirit. Belykh was sentenced to three years, died of tuberculosis in a transit prison on August 14, 1938 at the age of 31.
Due to the repressions against Belykh, he became less known than the second author of the "Republic of SKID", L. Panteleev.
Rehabilitated in 1957 at the initiative of L. Panteleev [2] . After rehabilitation in 1962, at the suggestion of L.K. Chukovskaya, the works of Grigory Belykh were reprinted.
