“Stone Cold Crazy” is a song by the British rock band Queen from Sheer Heart Attack . Released on November 8, 1974 . It was originally written by Freddie Mercury during his participation in the IBEX / Wreckage group , but then was finalized by all members of the Queen group. This is one of the group’s “fastest” songs and one of the first examples of the thrash metal genesis, which played an important role in the development of it as a genre. The song was probably not so fast initially.

Despite the fact that the song never appeared on the single, it was repeatedly included in various collections, the most significant are Queen Rocks (audio and video) and Stone Cold Classics .
The composition tells about a man who dreams that he is a gangster Al Capone , most of the text has an ironic connotation, mixing real life and gangster fantasies of the hero.
During the fifth Queen session for the BBC on October 16, 1974, an alternative version of the song was recorded: new vocal parts were recorded on top of the old instrumental parts, which is generally quite similar to the album version. Duration - 02:14 [1] .
A live recording of a song from a Rainbow concert of December 1974 was released in 1989 as part of the "B" side of the single " The Miracle ".
In 1991, during the re-release of all Queen albums, Hollywood Records created a remix of this composition, which was re-released as a bonus track. It differs from the original by the addition of some extra percussion.
In 1992, Trent Reznor , producer of the bonus remix, released his own remix known as Stone Cold Crazy Re-produced by Trent Reznor. This version has an electronic rhythm, heavier drums, as well as a reprise, which is absent in the landscape version. Also at the beginning and at the end were added additional records from the replicas of the group members in the studio while recording the original version.

“Stone Cold Crazy” has been repeatedly performed by various thrash metal artists, the most famous version of the American band Metallica , it was released as the “B” side of the single “ Enter Sandman ”; and received a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 1991.
