Folden ( Bokmål Folden ; Nynorsk Folden ) is a former commune in the county of Nordland , Northern Norway . It included the modern commune of Surfall , the former commune of Hjerringøy ( Bodø ) and the southeastern part of the commune of Steigen . [one]

The name comes from the fjord of the same name .
History
The Folden Commune was formed in 1837 and existed until January 1, 1887 , when it was divided into two new municipal entities: Nurfall-Hierringøy and Surfall . Before the division, the population of the commune was 3,293 people. [2]
