The disc was produced by Terry Data [1] . On this album, it was decided to return to the complex compositions of Taking Over , while retaining the roughness and soundness of Under the Influence . The result exceeded all expectations - The Years of Decay and to this day is considered to be fans of one of the best creations of the group [2] [3] [4] . The album features both quick (“Elimination” - a single and a video clip were also released on it), as well as complex compositions (eight-minute “The Years of Decay”, ten-minute “Playing with Spiders / Skullkrusher” - this song was played with a reduced build of guitars) . In support of the album, the band members organized a tour "Dawn of the Decade".
In November-December 1989, the band performed with Dark Angel and Wolfsbane , later they performed with Mordred . They also warmed up the Testament (with their tour on Practice What You Preach ). Then they were headliners in a series of concerts in the USA (they were warmed up by Vio-lence , Deceased , etc.)
Later on, all the songs from the album were somehow performed live, except for “Nothing to Die For” [5] . According to Bobby Ellsworth , “E.vil N.ever D.ies” is a continuation of the eponymous series of songs “Overkill” from the previous three albums, but not called “Overkill IV” [6] ; the next part of the series will be released only in 2007 on the album Immortalis called "Overkill V ... The Brand".
The album reached 155 lines in the American charts, and remained in the top 8 weeks. In August 2014, Revolver magazine placed the album in the list of “14 thrash albums you need to buy” [7] , and the album was the tenth in the list of the “Top 10 thrash albums released by the NOT Four” Loudwire [8] .
