A new Overkill drummer, Sid Falk, participated in the recording. The band also released the single "Hello from the Gutter" and a music video, which achieved a regular broadcast on MTV's "Headbangers Ball".
Overkill participated in a tour in support of Under the Influence , performing with such thrash metal bands like Nuclear Assault , MOD , Destruction and Testament . From October to December 1988, Overkill performed in the United States with Slayer and Motorhead ; This was followed by a European tour with Slayer and Nuclear Assault, which took place in January 1989.
AllMusic called the album "another confident, if not unremarkable album," noting the songs "Overkill III (Under the Influence)", "Shred", "Never Say Never" and "Hello from the Gutter" [1] . The album reached 142 lines on the weekly Billboard 200 charts [2] and remained in the charts for 13 weeks [2] . As of 1997, more than 300,000 copies have been sold worldwide [3] .
