The political system of Finland

The political system of Finland is determined by the Constitution , the main law of the country.

The main provisions related to the foundations of the political system are contained in chapter I of the Constitution. [1] According to the Constitution, state power in Finland belongs to the people who are represented in Eduscunt . The goal of democracy is defined as ensuring that everyone has the right to participate in social activities and the development of their environment. The principle of the exercise of state power is established with the basis only on the current legislation. [2]

The principle of separation of powers into executive, legislative and judicial is established.

Legislative power is exercised by Eduscunt ( Parliament ). Executive power is exercised by the President of the Republic of Finland and the State Council (Government). Councilors must enjoy the trust of Eduscunt. Judicial power is exercised by independent courts and is headed by the Supreme Court and the Supreme Administrative Court. [3]
