Biography
Belonged to the famous Samoilovs acting family . The son of Vasily Vasilyevich Samoilov (from a marriage with M. A. Bibikova, according to the scene of Sporova ). On the stage since 1888 (he made his debut in St. Petersburg under the name of Sporov ): enterprises M. M. Borodai , A. N. Dyukova ; theaters in Kazan, Kiev, Kharkov, Rostov-on-Don, Moscow (1891-1893, Korsh Theater). In 1904-05, at the V.F. Komissarzhevskaya Theater (Petersburg). In 1900-04 and 1920-24, he was in the troupe of the Alexandrinsky Theater (Leningrad Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin) .
He played the roles: Hamlet , Khlestakov ( Examiner of N.V. Gogol), Karandyshev ( Bride of A. N. Ostrovsky), Zhadov (“ Profitable Place ” by A. N. Ostrovsky), Ferdinand ( Cunning and Love of F. Schiller ), Neznamov ( Guilty of A. N. Ostrovsky without fault ), Chatsky ( Woe from the mind of A. S. Griboedov ), Storitsin (“Professor Storitsyn” by L. N. Andreev ), He (“The One Who Gets Slap” by L. N. Andreev) , Arbenin ( Masquerade M. Yu. Lermontov), Uriel Acosta (“ Uriel Acosta ” by K. F. Gutskov ), Oswald (“Ghosts” by Henryk Ibsen ), Astrov ( Uncle Vanya A. P. Chekhov ), Stark (“Chancellor and locksmith " A. V. Lunacharsky ; 1923).
He died on April 16, 1931 in Leningrad. He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery , in 1936 he was reburied (with the monument transferred) in a family grave with his father and his first wife, ballerina S. I. Samoilova at the Tikhvin cemetery (Necropolis of Artists) of the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
Family
Daughter - Nina Pavlovna Samoilova, was married to bridge engineer Valentin Savelyevich Lyass (1895-1960), the son of a prominent Saratov psychiatrist and healthcare organizer Savely (Saul) Abramovich Lyass (Shevel Abramovich Lyas; 1871-1917), a graduate of Kharkov University of Medicine. Their daughter (the granddaughter of the actor) - Natalya Valentinovna Lyass, a Soviet lawyer, associate professor of the Department of Criminal Law of Leningrad State University , was married to Efim Moiseevich Brusovani.
