He came from the nobility of the Don Army , began military service in 1801 as a simple Cossack in Denisov's regiment.
In the campaign of 1806 in East Prussia, Khreschatitsky with a regiment was in the Bennigsen corps. In 1807 he was transferred by a cunker to the Life Guards Cossack Regiment , with whom he took part in the war with the Swedes , for the feats that were shown in the campaign of 1808, he was awarded the distinction of the military order of St. George .
On the eve of the French invasion of Russia, Khreschatitsky was promoted to military service and, still enlisted in the Life Guards Cossack Regiment and as an adjutant to Count Orlov-Denisov , took part in many affairs in repelling the Great Army. He fought at Vilna , near Vitebsk , where he received a shell shock in his left side, at the village of Zabolotye. For the difference in the battle of Borodino, he was promoted to headquarters captain , and on December 25 for active participation in the defense of the Tarutino camp he was awarded a gold saber with the inscription "For courage . " After the Russian army went on the offensive, Khreschatitsky was in the battles of Vyazma and Krasnoye , and for this case he received the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree, and further pursued the defeated French army until the Neman .
In the Overseas Campaign Khreschatitsky participated in the battles of Dresden and near Kulm , and for the latter case he received a special Prussian sign of the Iron Cross ; then he was in the Battle of the Peoples near Leipzig and for her received diamond signs for the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree. In 1814 and 1815, Khreschatitsky was in France as part of the Russian occupation corps. Upon his return to Russia in 1816, he was promoted to captain and on July 31, 1819, to colonel .
Since 1821, Khreschatitsky was on the Don , where until 1827 he corrected the position of the Novocherkassk police chief. From 1832 to 1842 he was a district general of the 1st district of the Donskoy Army Region , moreover , he was promoted to major general only in 1834 and in the same year temporarily held the position of field ataman of the Don Cossack regiments in the army.
In 1843, Khreschatitsky was appointed field ataman of the Don Cossack Regiments, which were part of the Separate Caucasian Corps , and took an active part in campaigns against the highlanders . In contrast to the Dargin campaign in 1845, where he commanded a wagon train and the evacuation of the wounded, he was awarded the Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree. KK Benkendorf in his memoirs about this expedition emphasizes that "General Khreschatitsky performed his task well."
In 1847, Khreschatitsky was promoted to lieutenant general , in 1849 he was granted the imperial crown to the Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree and in 1851 was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree.
Khreschatitsky died in 1864.
His son Alexander fought with honors with the Turks in the Caucasus during the Eastern War and was subsequently a cavalry general; the grandson of Rostislav during the Russo-Japanese War was the Amur Governor-General.
