About the album
Featuring Lutherion III was also released in a limited edition on two discs, in which a poster was attached to it, as well as multimedia content containing the history of the album in eight languages [1] . In addition, a bonus track was included in a limited edition of the album - a cover version of the song of the cult gothic band Bauhaus Dark Entries [2] .
The booklet to the album was made in the original style, in particular, part of the text was deliberately printed in mirror image [3] . The first European edition of the disc came out with the note Parental Advisory due to anti - Christian motifs in the texts [1] . In Russia, the album was released by the label Irond Records .
Featuring Lutherion III won the first place in the international Gothic chart in 2007 (4) .
Theme and Style
The album is dominated by themes related to occultism and mythology (for example, the song Sacred Rites, according to group leader Artaud Set , is inspired by shaman rituals , and the concept of the album is generally inspired by Freemasonry ) [3] [5] . At the same time, the musicians confessed that horror literature and films in the horror genre influenced their work during this period, which led to the active use of various samples , creating a depressing impression. In addition, in some compositions, such as “The Abyss”, there is a noticeable influence of the dark ambient musical style.
The album is conceptual and full of different characters. Its plot is built around the fate of a fictional girl named Mary Fenroz, who is kidnapped and killed by a certain fanatic , who wants in this way to prevent the realization of ancient prophecy. In the lyrics of the songs “aggressive” patriarchal Christianity is opposed to the cult of the feminine [3] .
Featuring Lutherion III received generally positive reviews from European music critics [2] , and Thomas Thiessen of the influential music magazine Sonic Seducer called the album the best GOD ever recorded [5] .
