Distribution and Ecology
Caucasus : Georgia ( Gelati , Kojori ), Dagestan ( Tlyarata ). Endemic .
It grows in moist meadows , in the lower part of the forest belt , at an altitude of 800-1500 m above sea level.
Botanical Description
Plant height 5-10 (up to 15) cm, glandular. The stems are erect or rising, shortened, thick.
Rhizome straight or oblique, simple or branched.
Leaves are bare, thick, dry, slightly leathery. Basal leaves in the rosette , broad, obovate or almost rounded, whole or at the apex of the toothed, narrowed into a short, wide-winged petiole ; stem - greatly reduced, lanceolate or narrowly obovate, sessile, few.
Flowers are collected in a long apical brush ; bracts lanceolate, much shorter than pedicels or lower ones equal to them. Calyx with widely ovoid, up to oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, long ciliary, lobes with clear veins, much shorter than corolla ; corolla pale blue, with violet veins.
Capsule rounded elliptical or rounded, iron pubescent or almost glabrous, longer than calyx.
