Description

Effective July 11, 1898 , however, the property was transferred to the London Underground only in 1994 . The line goes from Waterloo station to Bank station. Both stations of the line are underground. Travel time on the line in one direction takes only 4 minutes. It is the second line that was originally electrified.

Timeline

  • 1898 - the opening of the line, immediately after construction.
  • In 1993, new trains were introduced on the line.
  • In 2006, overhaul of the stations was carried out on the line, travelators were installed.

Title

The name of the line from the moment of opening is “Waterloo and City”, literally “Waterloo and City ”, due to the fact that at the time the line was opened in 1898, the Bank station was called “City”.
