Pokatilov, Evgeny Petrovich ( January 27, 1927 - February 1, 2011 ) - Soviet and Moldavian theoretical physicist , corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova.

Biography

  • Born and raised in Odessa. Member of the Komsomol ( 1941 - 1955 ). He graduated from Chisinau University in 1950 . From 1950 to 1953 he worked at the Department of Physics, and since 1953 - at the Department of Theoretical Physics. In 1961 he defended his thesis "Some issues of the interaction of electrons with acoustic oscillations of the lattice and impurities in semiconductors" under the guidance of Acad. Yu. E. Perlina , in 1971 - the doctoral “Polaronic and dissipative-relaxation processes caused by the imperfect lattice”. In 1973, he was elected a professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Chisinau , and in 1989 he was elected a member-correspondent of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova .

Pedagogical activity

Taught the regulatory course:

  • Thermodynamics and statistical physics .

Taught special courses:

  • Group theory and its applications in physics
  • Path Integration in Quantum Mechanics and Statistical Physics

Scientific Activities

His research interests are in the field of physics of semiconductors and dielectrics, as well as optical and kinetic phenomena in small-sized structures. PhD thesis is devoted to the interaction of electrons with optical vibrations and impurity centers in semiconductors. The doctoral thesis is devoted to polaron processes in relaxation devices caused by lattice defects . Total published about 300 works, co-author of 13 inventions.
