Born December 11, 1769. August 6, 1786 entered the Naval Cadet Corps and September 28, 1788 was promoted to non-commissioned officer .
In 1789, he participated in the Battle of Elands with the Swedes , and the following year - in the battles of Krasnogorsk and Vyborg . In the same year, on December 25, Rudnev was promoted to midshipman , and in 1791 sent to Arkhangelsk , from where the next year made the transition to Kronstadt .
On March 11, 1793, he was promoted to lieutenant and from 1793 to 1797 sailed annually in the Gulf of Finland , and from August 1797 he commanded the transport ship Griepswald on the Kronstadt roadstead. Then he was sent to the province of Tula , to recruit, and "for a good recruit drive" February 24, 1798 was promoted to lieutenant commander . Then sent in the same year to Arkhangelsk, Rudnev passed from there on the ship Yaroslav, in the squadron of Vice-Admiral Baratynsky , to the shores of Holland , and from there to Kronstadt with the landing troops.
From 1801, Rudnev began to command individual ships and continued his almost annual voyages. In 1806, Rudnev commanded the Narva frigate in the port of Revel. In 1808, he was promoted to captain of rank 2 and cruised in the Gulf of Finland in the same year for 74 push. ship "Vsevolod." Leaving once from the pursuit of the English fleet , Rudnev stranded near Packorta and was taken by two English ships Centaur ( English HMS Centaur ) and Relentless ( English HMS Implacable ) under the command of captain T. Martin on boarding.
In 1810, Rudnev was promoted to captain of the 1st rank and the next year he commanded the defense of the Kronstadt citadel. November 26, 1810 for conducting 18 semi-annual sea campaigns, Rudnev was awarded the Order of Saint. Georgy 4th grade (No. 2216 according to the list of Grigorovich - Stepanov).
After a business trip to Arkhangelsk in 1812 , from where in 1813 he brought the Hamburg ship to Revel , and the next year to Kronstadt, Rudnev commanded the 26th ship crew in Kronstadt in 1815 and 1816 “ Don't touch me ” sailed to Calais , from where he returned to Kronstadt with the landing troops, and then cruised with the fleet at Krasnaya Gorka . Then the year Rudnev commanded the 14th naval crew in Kronstadt, in 1819 he was again sent to Arkhangelsk, where, when visiting the fleet by Emperor Alexander I , he was awarded a diamond ring.
After returning to the ship " Three Saints " in 1820 in Kronstadt, Rudnev from 1821 to 1826 commanded the 74th push. ship "Fershampenuaz" and the 5th naval crew and in 1824 was promoted to captain commanders . In 1826, he commanded a detachment of Guards sailing ships in the Neva Bay, and for the maneuvers of this detachment received three times the royal favor; that same year, December 6, Rudnev was promoted to rear admiral . From 1827 to 1830, he commanded first the 1st brigade of the 1st naval division, then the 3rd and finally the 1st naval brigades.
Among other awards Rudnev had the Order of St.. Vladimir 4th degree and the distinction of the immaculate service "XXXV years."
Rudnev died on August 11, 1831 in Kronstadt.
