Joshua (Josh) Smith ( born Joshua "Josh" Smith ; born December 5, 1985 in College Park , Georgia ) is an American professional basketball player . He plays in the position of a heavy and light forward . Has the nickname J-Smoove [1] .

Biography
Josh is one of the five children of Pauletta and Pete Smith. He has a brother Walter and three sisters, Casola, Santi and Phoebe. Josh was a well-known basketball player at the school level, studied at John McChern High School in Powder Springs , and spent the last year at the Oak Hill Academy in Virginia , which is considered one of the best basketball schools in the United States.
After leaving school, Smith did not go to college , but put forward his candidacy for the NBA draft . In the 2004 draft, he was selected at number 17 by the Atlanta Hawks Club. In his debut season, Smith averaged 9.7 points per game, made 6.2 rebounds and 2 block shots , he also won the slam dunk contest in February 2005, and was included in the second NBA rookie team by the end of the season.
In the following seasons, Smith significantly improved his statistics both in attack (17.2 points on average per game in the 2007/2008 season ) and in defense (2.9 block shots in the 2006/2007 season ). On August 8, 2008, Smith, who became a limited- free agent , signed a five-year contract for $ 58 million proposed by the Memphis Grizzlies club, but the Hawks offered Josh similar terms and left him on the team. On February 2, 2010, in a match against the Oklahoma City Thunder , Josh Smith made his 1,000 block shot, becoming the youngest player in league history to reach that mark [3] .
December 22, 2014 was expelled by Detroit.
December 26 signed a contract with the Houston Rockets club until the end of the season [4] . The amount of the contract amounted to 2.07 million dollars. Smith made his debut in the new team that very evening in the match against Memphis Grizzlies . Coming out of the bench, Josh spent 32 minutes on the court, gaining 21 points and making 3 assists [5] .
On January 22, 2016, Smith, along with Sergey Lishchukβs rights and monetary compensation, was exchanged back to Houston Rockets for rights to Maarty Leunin [6] .
