Location
Located in the north-eastern part of the archipelago, as part of the islands of Belaya Zemlya . The nearest major island - Eva Liv - is located 8.5 kilometers northeast of the island of Freden beyond the Sars Strait .
Description
It has an oval shape with a length of 9 kilometers and a width of about 5 kilometers in the central part. The entire territory of the island is occupied by a glacier, rising to a height of 165 meters.
Named after the German maritime specialist Wilhelm Freden [1] .

3 kilometers north of the island of Freden lies the small rounded island of Adelaide , named after Adelaide, mother of Fridtjof Nansen.
