Biography and Creativity
Perhaps he served in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and was hanged in 1304 for rape, theft and murder (however, current science disputes this information about Lekurel’s biography).
We know about Lecurelle's musical heritage from a single source - an appendix to the famous Parisian manuscript “The Roman about Fauvel ” (F-Pn fr.146, ff.57r – 62v). It mainly consists of monophonic secular works written in solid forms : 20 ballads , 12 rondos and 2 diz entez (only refrains are pronounced ). The only polyphonic (for 3 votes) composition by Lecurelle is the rondo A vous douce debonnaire.
Together with Adam de la Alem is considered one of the main predecessors of Guillaume de Masho .
