Ground forces of Latvia ( Latvian. Latvijas Sauszemes spēki ) - one of the types of armed forces of Latvia . Since 2007 it is completed only on a contract basis.

International cooperation

Since 1996, the ground forces of Latvia have participated in international peacekeeping missions. By the beginning of 2015, the Latvian military took part in nine peacekeeping missions - in Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Iraq, the Central African Republic and Somalia. [2]
March 29, 2004, Latvia became a full member of NATO . [3]
