The North-West District is a county in Botswana . The district was formed in 2001 as a result of the merger of the Ngamiland and Chobe counties. The administrative center is the city of Maun ( en: Maun ).

Geography
In the central part is the Okavango River and its many tributaries, as well as the eponymous swamp , which is a river delta . In the south there are salt marshes : Madongo , Ngvako , Masalanyan ; in the northwest - Tsodilo mountains, rivers: Ngamaseri and Tskaudum . Conservation areas : Moremi Nature Reserve (center), Chobe National Park (north), Ntskai-Pan (east), Hzvihab caves.

Economics
Manganese ore and asbestos are mined in the far east. There are airports in Maun and Kasan (in the far north).
