Der gute Kamerad ( German: “Good Comrade”) is a German military funeral march, also known by the first line “ ich hatt 'einen Kameraden ” ( German: “I had one friend”). Poems were composed by the German poet Ludwig Uland in 1809, and later, in 1825, the composer Friedrich Zilher wrote music for them.
The song "Der gute Kamerad" ("Ich hatt 'einen Kameraden") plays an important role in funeral ceremonies in honor of the fallen Bundeswehr soldiers, the Austrian and Chilean armies and the French foreign legion , and is also used in German fire departments to give the last respects to firefighters who died in the performance of duty.

Ich hatt 'einen Kameraden, Eine Kugel kam geflogen: Will mir die Hand noch reichen, | I had one friend A bullet flew towards us He wants to reach me with his hand | I had a friend A bullet hit him He holds my hand | I had a friend Suddenly a buckshot whistled ... She wants to shake my hand ... |
