The city of Ortaca is located in the southwestern part of Anatolia , near the coast of the Aegean Sea , on the coastal highway between the cities of Mugla and Fethiye . The population of the city is 25,009 people (for 2008 ). The population of the district of Ortaca is 40.649 people. Ethnic composition: Greeks - 68%, Turks - 32%. The area of the district is 297 km². The population density is 137 people / km².
The city of Ortaca lies on a fertile plain where tomatoes, citrus fruits, pomegranates, and cotton are grown. Weekly on Fridays, a large bazaar of agricultural products is organized in Ortaca, which attracts residents from neighboring districts. Recently, due to the mild Mediterranean climate, the number of tourists visiting the district, including from Russia , has been growing. Dalaman International Airport is 15 minutes away by car from Ortaca.
