Development

Before the release of Firefox 3.0, June 17, 2008, development of Firefox 3.1, code-named "Shiretoko", began. It was planned as a release that included new interface elements, such as a new tab-switching behavior mechanism, HTML 5 support for the <video> element, and CSS text shadows properties. [2]

The first alpha version became available on June 28, 2008 [3] . A new tab switching has become available in it, support for new CSS and HTML properties has been added, and corrections have been made in the “smart” address bar. Also, the number of points in passing the Acid3 test increased to 84 out of 100.

The second alpha version was released on September 5, 2008 with HTML 5 support for the <video> element and web worker threads technology [4] .

[11] [12] On June 8, Mozilla released the Preview version, also known as 3.5b99, for additional testing before the release candidate . [13]

The first release candidate became available for update on June 17, 2009. [14] Two days later, on June 19, a second candidate appeared [15] , and a third candidate followed him on June 24, 2009. Firefox 3.5 was officially released on June 30, 2009. [16] [17] March 22, 2011 released version 3.5.18, in which stability and security were improved.
