Rac2 ( eng. Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 2 ) - cytosolic protein , Rho GTPase from the GTPase superfamily, belongs to the "small" G-proteins . It is in two states: active GTP- bonded and inactive GDF- bonded state. In its active form, it binds in the cell with a variety of effector proteins and leads to the regulation of many cellular processes, such as secretion , phagocytosis of apoptotic cells, polarization of epithelial cells and the formation of membrane folds and outgrowths ( eng. Membrane ruffles ). Participates in the activation of NADPH oxidase NOX2 .
