It was developed on the basis of the MAZ-500 onboard vehicle. The first prototype MAZ-503 was built in 1958. Then, for some time, the dump truck underwent lengthy tests. In 1963, pilot-industrial assembly began; from 1965 to 1970, mass production. The MAZ-503 body was a quarry type with low inclined sides for transporting soil and rock. From 1970 to 1977, the production of the modernized MAZ-503A dump truck began. It was intended for the same purposes, but received a body unified with MAZ-503B.
Modifications
- MAZ-503B - a dump truck with high even sides and an opening tailgate.
- MAZ-503V, MAZ-503G - experienced dump trucks with underbody heating.
- MAZ-503C - the northern version, did not go into mass production.
- MAZ-509B - all-wheel drive. Experienced, did not go into mass production.
- MAZ-510 - a dump truck with a single cab was built in 1962, did not go into mass production.
- MAZ-511 + 847 - dump truck with side unloading. In mass production did not go.
In the gaming and souvenir industry
The scale model MAZ-503 at a scale of 1:43 was produced at the Kostroma plant "Elektropribor".
