Artistic Features
The film combines black humor in its blackest manifestation, but with a completely serious face. Perhaps, no one has ever achieved this on the screen. Noiret was exceptionally well chosen for the role , providing the perfect balance between the dangerous and the charming, the moral and the immoral, the killer and the victim. The presence of Isabelle Huppert in the role of his unkempt, but seductive mistress is very out of place. [four]
