David Anthony O'Leary (May 2, 1958, London , England ) is an Irish footballer and coach. One of the best central defenders in the history of the London Arsenal and the national team of Ireland . He spent most of his playing career as part of the London Arsenal, for which he spent 722 matches, which are a club record.

Biography

Born in London , O'Leary lived in Dublin from the age of three since his father was Irish. Since 1973 he played in the youth and reserve teams of Arsenal. The debut in the main team took place in August 1975. Since then, he has become one of the main players in the club. He was famous for his elegant defense game. Together with Arsenal, he entered the final of the FA Cup three times in a row: 1978, 1979 and 1980. In the 1990 World Cup, in the реш final match against Romania, David O'Leary scored the decisive goal in the penalty shootout, and Ireland made it to the quarterfinals. This is the highest result of the Irish team in history. After nineteen years of playing at Arsenal, O'Leary moved to Leeds United in the summer of 1993. After playing just a few matches in the 1993/94 season, he was seriously injured, which ultimately forced him to end his playing career. Found himself in the coaching field, led the clubs of the English Premier League.
