Sulfaguanidine is an antimicrobial drug of bacteriostatic action from the group of sulfonamides . Used to treat intestinal infections, including bacterial dysentery , and for preoperative bowel preparation. Like other sulfonamides, it has nephrotoxicity and a number of other serious side effects, in connection with which, in a number of countries (Germany, Denmark, Turkey, etc.), the drug is prohibited for use.
