China Town (THEOS)

TEOS "China Town" - a former territorial unit with a special status of the city ​​of Moscow , which existed from 1996 to 2002 . Located in the Central Administrative District . It consisted of the Moscow Kremlin , Red Square , as well as the adjacent territory of the historic China Town .

History

Territorial unit with a special status "China-City" was organized in 1996 by order of the mayor of Moscow [1] .

The head of the administration of the territory "China Town" was appointed and dismissed by the Mayor of Moscow on the proposal of the prefect of the Central Administrative District. Considering the historical, architectural and cultural characteristics of the territory, the head of the administration was also appointed by the Minister of the Government of Moscow [1] .

In 2003, according to a decree of the Moscow government [2], the TEOS “China-city” was reorganized into the “China-city” management of the prefecture of the Central Administrative District, while the territory previously referred to the TEOS was divided between the Arbat and Tverskaya districts as early as 2002 [3] .

Borders

The boundaries of the TEOS "China Town" passed [1] along the Moscow River, then along the driveway to Bolshaya Kamenny Bridge , the southwestern border of Borovitskaya Square , and axes: Znamenka Street , Krestovozdvizhensky Lane , Vozdvizhenka Street , Moss Street , Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street , Kopyevsky Street lane , Petrovka Street , Teatralny Proezd , northwestern and northeastern borders of Lubyanskaya Square , axis of Lubyansky Proyezd , south-eastern borders of Slavyanskaya Square and Varvarsky Vorota Square , axis of Kitaygorodskiy passage to the Moscow River.

Thus, the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square , as well as adjacent territories of the historical center of the city: Manezhnaya and Teatralnaya Square , Alexander Garden , belonged to the territory of TEOS "China Town" (in addition to the historical China Town proper).
