Geography
The city of Korkuteli is located in the southwestern part of Anatolia , on the hills of the western spurs of the Taurus , 60 kilometers north-west of Antalya . The administrative center of the eponymous district, part of the province of Antalya . The population of the city is 19,767 people (for 2008 ). The population of Korkuteli County is 49,533 people (as of 2008). The area of the district is 2536 km². The population density is 20 people / km². On the hills in the vicinity of Korkuteli there are pine groves, the Mediterranean coast is nearby.
History
In ancient times, the city was called Isionda and was located in the Asia Minor region of Pisidia . The current name comes from the name of the Ottoman Prince Korkut , who was killed in one of the local caves by his brother, Sultan Selim I.
