Cup draw system - knockout. Teams participating in the championship of the Super League basketball of divisions “A” and “ B ” and the Higher League - without fail, as well as all interested teams - participate in the Cup of Russia [1] .

The cup went in three stages:

  • Stage I - preliminary games in subgroups. Teams of the Higher League of the Championship of Russia, as well as all teams who wish, are divided into subgroups “A”, “B”, “C” and “G” according to the territorial principle. Games in the subgroups are held in rounds in one round from September 5 to 9, 2009.
  • Stage II - competitions in the playoffs from September 30, 2009 to February 20, 2010.
  • Stage III - the final games were held in the format of “Final 4”.

The “Final 4” Cup of Russia took place from March 18 to 19 in Moscow at the arena of USK CSKA [2] . On March 19, in the interval between the match for 3rd place and the final, the Top Throwing Competition was held [3] .

The Cup holder gets the right to participate in the European Cup in the 2010/11 season . If this club already has the right to participate in these competitions, the Cup finalist receives the right to participate in the European Cup .

Preliminary Stage

For playoff matches, the owner of the venue is the first, in the case of a 2-round standoff, the owner of the first match.
