Medvezhye [1] is a closed salt lake in Russia , located in the Petukhov district of the Kurgan region , between the rivers Tobol and Ishim . The surface area is 61.3 km². Altitude - 113 m.

Food from melt water. In summer, the water warms up to 20 ° C. Extremely high salinity of the lake (up to 360 g / l) [2] .
The maximum depth is 1.2 meters. The average is 0.6 meters [3] .
In summer, crustaceans, salted brine shrimps breed in large numbers in the lake, which give the lake a peculiar brown color and secrete enzymes that have a calming effect.
Silt mud of the lake is used to treat diseases of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems, gynecological diseases. The resort and sanatorium Bear Lake is located on the northern shore of the Great Bear Lake.
There are 6 islands in the lake, which actually divide it into two lakes - Big Bear and Small Bear [4] .
Due to the high salt content in the lake, there are no fish and algae [4] .
Settlements
There are two settlements directly on the shore of the lake - the village of the rural type Resort “Medvezhye Lake” and the village of Novoye Ilyinskoye (on the northern shore of the Small Bear Lake). Also 2 km from the lake is the village of Troitskoye .
