Joyce Meyer ( June 4, 1943 , St. Louis ) is an American Bible teacher, book author, host of the daily television and radio program, “A Life of Joy,” founder and leader of the Joyce Meyer Service. [1] .

Biography

Joyce Meyer was born in 1943 in St. Louis , Missouri . In childhood, she was sexually abused by her father [1] . After leaving school, she married a car salesman, after 5 years the couple divorced [1] . Joyce then married drafting engineer Dave Mayer. [3]

In 1976 , Joyce began conducting Bible studies, and in 1980 she became an assistant pastor of a church in St. Louis , Missouri [4] .

Joyce Meyer had breast cancer; she spoke about her struggle and victory over the disease in her book “Look Great, Feel Great: 12 Keys to Enjoying a Healthy Life Now” [5] [6] .

Her sermons are broadcast on radio and television in more than 90 languages.

Joyce Meyer holds an Honorary Doctorate in Theology from the University of Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, and a Ph.D. [1] .

Personal life

Joyce married Dave Mayer in 1967 . The couple has four adult children.

Joyce Meyer's Ministry

Joyce Mayer is the author of more than 100 books, many of which have been translated into more than 130 languages. Over 12 million of her books have been distributed free of charge around the world, and millions of copies are sold annually.

Each year, Joyce holds over a dozen major conferences in the United States and abroad, where he shares Bible truths with people on various topics, so that people's lives change for the better and they gain the joy of life. For thirty years she has been holding an annual women's conference, which was attended by a total of two hundred thousand women from all over the world. In addition, Joyce runs a television and radio program called “A Life Full of Joy” [4] , which is broadcast worldwide and reaches an audience of approximately 4.5 billion people.

Mission of the Hand of Hope

In the second half of the 80s, Joyce developed a strong desire to help people. She and her husband began to save money to help the poor. And they started right from Joyce’s hometown, from St. Louis , financially supported an organization that helped residents of poor neighborhoods, and also provided financial support to other Ministries. Then they went on mission trips and collaborated with missionaries around the world.

In 2000, Dave and Joyce opened the Dream Center in St. Louis , which provides assistance to residents of disadvantaged areas of the city [7] .

In the “Joyce Meyer Service”, the international mission “The Hand of Hope” was founded, the purpose of which is to fill the basic needs of the afflicted and to show God's love to people with real deeds [8] . Together with the mission “Hand of Hope”, Joyce travels a lot around the world with various kinds of assistance to urgently needing residents of a particular area.

Today, the “Hand of Hope” mission feeds the starving, drills wells with clean drinking water in those regions of the world where there is no clean water; provides medical and dental care to people who are not able to see a doctor, and does much more in almost 150 countries of the world. It is very important for Joyce to provide people not only with spiritual help - through God's Word, but also practical - filling their urgent needs.
