Biography

Born in the town of Pomoshnaya in Ukraine ( Kirovograd region ). In 1975 , after eight years, he entered the puppet department of the Dnipropetrovsk Theater School. Simultaneously with his studies, he worked additionally at the puppet theater, sang perfectly (his vocals were led by Albina Vasilievna Naumenko, now the head of the music department of the theater and art college).

After graduating from the Dnepropetrovsk School in 1979, on the recommendation of the teachers, he went to Leningrad, where he entered the Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography , at the theater director’s department, graduating in 1984. In 1986-1987 he worked as a director of the puppet theater in Ivanovo and Smolensk .

From 1987 to 1989 he studied at the highest film directing courses at the USSR State Committee for Cinematography ( Rolan Bykov workshop), Moscow.

Recent years, he lived and worked in the Czech Republic.

He died of cancer on May 13, 2009 in Moscow. He was buried in his homeland in the town of Pomichna (Ukraine).
