Obolensky, Ivan Mikhailovich Repnya

Prince Ivan Mikhailovich Repnya-Obolensky (? - 1523 ) - boyar and governor in the service of the Moscow princes Ivan III and Vasily III , the founder of the princes Repniny-Obolensky . During the voivodship in Pskov in 1509 he received the nickname "Found."

Biography

Ivan Repnya was the fourth of the five sons of Prince Mikhail Ivanovich Obolensky , the third son of Ivan Konstantinovich , the specific prince of Obolensky [1] .

In 1491, together with Prince Peter Nikitich Obolensky and Tsarevich Saltagan, he participated in a campaign of Russian troops sent to the aid of the Moscow ally, the Crimean Khan Mengli Gerai , against the forces of the Great Horde under the command of Sayyid-Ahmad and Sheikh-Ahmed . Upon learning that the Moscow army is located on the banks of the Donets , the Horde princes retreated.

In 1492, during the campaign of Ivan III against the Swedes, he was a nobleman, and then governor of a guard regiment .

In the years 1493-1494, the governor of the advanced regiment in the campaign against Vyazma. In 1494 he treated the ambassadors of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander at a reception at Ivan III.

In 1496, the governor of the advanced regiment in a campaign against the Swedes.

From this year he becomes governor in Pskov instead of Prince Peter the Great. The Pskovs nicknamed him Found, since he did not enter the city in accordance with the customs, but was already discovered by them in his residence. The Pskovites had many complaints against Prince Repna and they complained to Vasily III at the end of 1509, but he arrested all the noble people of Pskov, presented it as a riot and took the opportunity to disperse the veche, expel the veche bell and eliminate the remnants of Pskov independence.

In 1511-1512 he was governor of the advanced regiment during the campaign of Vasily III to Smolensk.

In 1513 he received the boyar title. In the next campaign, Prince Vasily sent forward a large part of the army under Smolensk under the command of Repny and nothing but A. V. Saburov . In an open battle, the Smolensk army was defeated.

After 1513 and until his death in 1523 there is no information about him in the annals.
