Justin Nassau ( Dutch. Justinus van Nassau ; 1559 - June 26, 1631 , Leiden ) - Dutch admiral, illegitimate son of William of Orange . He was the governor of Breda during its siege by the Spanish troops under the command of Ambrosio Spinola , depicted in Diego Velazquez 's famous painting “ Surrender of Breda ”.

Youth
Justin's mother was Eva Elinks, Wilhelm’s lover between his first and second marriages. William of Orange recognized Justin and raised him along with his other children.
Military career
Justin studied in Leiden , and on May 17, 1583 became a lieutenant colonel . On February 28, 1585 he became lieutenant admiral of Zealand , and in 1588, fighting the Invincible Armada , he captured 2 galleons .
In the period from 1601 to 1625 he was the governor of Breda. In 1625, after an 11-month siege, he surrendered the city of Spinole. Justin was allowed to go to Leiden.
Family
On December 4, 1597, Justin's wedding with Anna Baroness van Merod took place (January 9, 1567 - October 8, 1634), from which 3 children appeared.
