Stoolbarg, Michael

Stulbarg was born in Long Beach , California , into the family of Susan and Mort Stulbarg, philanthropists ^{[1] [2]} . He was raised as a reformist Jew ^{[3] [4]} . Stulbarg studied at the Juilliard School in New York , which he graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts ^[5] . He also studied acting at the University of California, Los Angeles , the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater in Vilnius , the British-American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Oxford, and the British National Youth Theater , and studied pantomime with mime Marcel Marceau ^{[6] [7]} .

Since 2013, Stulbarg has been married to Mai-Lin Lofgren. ^[8]

After university, he becomes a prominent theater actor engaged in many theatrical productions. He participated in the Old Wicked Songs in 1996, Long Day's Journey into Night in 1998 and The Pillowman in 2005. For this role, he was first nominated for the Tony Award ^[9] .

He also starred in many television projects, such as Law and Order , The Ugly , Fargo , and others ^[9] .

His contribution to cinema was limited to secondary roles, such as the lawyer in Ridley Scott's “ The Set of Lies ” and other minor ones. In 2009, the Cohen brothers entrusted him with the main role of university professor Larry Gopnik in the comedy Serious Man , for which Stulbarg was nominated for a number of film awards.

In 2010-2013, he starred in the HBO television series Underground Empire .
