Flakstad ( Nor. Flakstad ) is a commune in the Norland County in Norway . It is part of the Lofoten region. The administrative center of the commune is the village of Ramberg . The municipality is located on the Lofoten Islands , also includes the island of Flakstadia and the eastern part of the island of Moscenese .

Flakstad received commune status on January 1, 1838. Mokkenes was separated from Flactad on July 1, 1916. Later Flacstad was again briefly united with Moscenes from 1964 to 1976.
General Information
Title
The municipality (originally a parish ) was named after the old Flakstad farm ( Old Norwegian : Flakstaðir )) since the first church was built there. The meaning of the first part of the name is unknown, the ending is the word Staðir , meaning a farm or a manor .
Coat of Arms
The commune has a modern coat of arms. It was adopted in 1989. The coat of arms depicts a mounting device that was used on ships as a symbol of the history of the region’s seafaring. [one]
