Biography
He played for the team: until 1981 - Lokomotiv ( Kiev ), 1981–1989 - CSKA , 1989–1990 - Konad ( Ravenna , Italy ), 1990–1994 - Moka Rika ( Forlì , Italy ). 7-time champion of the USSR (1982, 1983, 1985-1989), bronze medalist of the allied championships 1981 and 1984, three-time winner of the USSR Cup (1982, 1984, 1985), 6-time winner of the European Cup of Champions (1982, 1983, 1986-1989 ) As part of the Ukrainian SSR team, he became the bronze medalist of the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR 1983.
In the USSR national team in official competitions he performed in 1979-1988. It includes: Olympic champion 1980 , silver medalist of the 1988 Olympics , world champion 1982 , silver medalist of the world championship 1986 , winner of the 1981 World Cup , silver medalist of the World Cup 1985 , 5-time European champion ( 1979 , 1981 , 1983 , 1985 , 1987 ), winner of the Friendship 84 tournament (1984), winner of the Goodwill Games (1986).
In 1996-2005 he worked as a coach in Italy (teams from the cities of Montecchio Maggiore , Macerata , Piacenza , Vibo Valentia ). In 2007 - senior coach of the Russian national team , 2006-2008 - head coach of the Dynamo Yantar team ( Kaliningrad ). In 2008-2011, he was a coach of the Lokomotiv-Belogorye team ( Belgorod ). In 2011-2012, he was the head coach of the Kuzbass team ( Kemerovo ).
Since February 2013, he has been the head coach of the Fakel women's team ( Novy Urengoy ). In 2015-2017, he was the head coach of the Dynamo women's team (Moscow) . In 2017, he was appointed head coach of the Altai women's team (Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan) , and in February 2019, he was also the coach of the women's national team of Kazakhstan .
