Tambov Province is one of the provinces of the Russian Empire. The center is the city of Tambov .

The Tambov province was formed as part of the Azov province according to the decree of Peter I "On the device of the provinces and on the determination of the new rulers" in 1719 . The provinces included the cities of Tambov, Borisoglebsk , Verkhny Lomov , Dobry , Insar , Kozlov with the Belsky and Chernavsky suburbs, Nizhny Lomov , Ryazhsk [1] .
In 1725, the Azov province, which included the Tambov province, became known as Voronezh .
In November 1775, the division of provinces into provinces was canceled [2] .
